ARTIFACTS AND CULMINATING ACTIVITIES
Throughout the units, embedded assessments will allow students to create artifacts or products. Artifacts are representations of what students are learning. However, they can not be separated from the learning process. Artifacts are created as students conduct investigations. Artifacts include the products that students create as they do investigations. Students create artifacts that can be shared, critiqued, and revised to further enhance understanding and serve as a basis for assessment (Loh et al., in press; Smith & Reiser, 1998).
